RJ Luis Jr. Named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

St. John’s junior wing averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in wins over Wagner and RV/RV New Mexico
QUEENS, N.Y. – For the second consecutive week, junior RJ Luis Jr. was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference on Monday.
The 6-foot-7 wing out of Miami, Fla., averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in wins over Wagner and RV/RV New Mexico. Luis also shot 55.6 percent (10-18 FG) inside the arc and registered a 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio to help No. 22/25 St. John's to improve to a perfect 4-0 record.
The Red Storm cruised to a 66-45 victory over Wagner on Wednesday with Luis registering seven of his 13 points from the charity stripe. He also chipped in five rebounds and in the winning effort.
Luis shined in Sunday's 85-71 triumph over RV/RV New Mexico, pacing the team with 21 points while knocking down seven of his eight attempts from inside the 3-point line. The Johnnies' wing also notched his second double-double of the season with 11 boards and recorded a career-high seven assists against the Lobos.
Through four games, Luis leads the Red Storm with and ranks seventh in the BIG EAST with 17.5 points per game. His 7.8 rebounds per game also leads the Johnnies and ranks sixth in the conference.
St. John's will return to action on Thursday when it plays No. 12/14 Baylor at the Baha Mar Hoops Championship in Nassau, Bahamas. Tip-off from Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center is slated for 7 p.m. on CBSSN.
