QUEENS, N.Y. – Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and current Red Storm Head Coach Rick Pitino will be one of two honorees at the Queens Community House (QCH) Annual Fall Gala on Oct. 9. The yearly event is being held at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, N.Y. from 6-9 p.m. To purchase tickets to the gala, click here.
This event provides the opportunity to come together and celebrate Queens' past, present, and future. The cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the full program shortly after.
Queens Community House's annual Gala is dedicated to celebrating the changemakers who have supported Queens through the years. QCH's vision thrives when everyone, from childhood to older age, is empowered to make a difference to those around the community. The fall Gala is one of the premier events in the borough and honors top business leaders and public servants who "have used philanthropy and acumen to enrich the community."
Pitino, alongside General Manager at LaGuardia Airport Anthony Vero, will be recognized for their support and dedication to making a difference in the Queens community. Pitino is the second sports figure in recent memory to be honored by the organization, joining former New York Mets All-Star Edgardo Alfonso.
The second-year Red Storm head coach is gearing up for another year in Queens after guiding the Johnnies to 20 wins and their first BIG EAST Tournament semifinal since 2000. Pitino is the active winningest head coach entering the 2024-25 campaign with 854 total wins at the Division I level.
St. John's will open the upcoming slate when Fordham visits Carnesecca Arena on Nov. 4. Season tickets for the 2024-25 season are available for purchase at RedStormTix.com.
