St. John’s Reaches No. 12 in Associated Press Poll; Cracks Top-10 in USA Today Coaches’ Poll

Red Storm reaches highest AP poll ranking since 2000
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball team reached its highest Associated Press poll ranking since 2000 on Monday, checking in at No. 12 in the AP poll. The Red Storm cracked the top-10 in the USA Today Coaches' poll coming in at No. 10, for the first time since 1999.
The AP poll ranks represents the program's highest since it finished at No. 9 in the final poll of the 1999-200 season, where it won the BIG EAST Tournament Championship.
The Red Storm rose four spots to No. 10 in the USA Today Coaches' poll reaching the top-10 for the first time since the final poll of the 1998-99 season, when the Johnnies reached the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.
The Red Storm's next opponent Marquette checks in at No. 11/11, as it will mark the first regular season top-15 matchup since Jan. 30, 1999 when then-No. 9 St. John's hosted then-No. 1 and eventual National Champion UConn at Madison Square Garden. It will mark the first top-15 matchup in any contest since the 1999 Elite Eight, when the Red Storm fell to Ohio State, 77-74, in the regional final on March 20.
St. John's currently riding an eight-game winning streak, captured 14 of its last 15 games. The Red Storm are off to its best start in conference play in 40 years and sit atop the BIG EAST standings with a 10-1 record in league competition. Marquette comes to the World's Most Famous Arena with a 9-2 conference mark, trailing the Johnnies by a single-game.
