Lashae Dwyer Named to All-MET Second Team

Dwyer will be recognized at the MBWA All-MET Haggerty Awards Dinner on Thursday night
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's women's basketball standout Lashae Dwyer was named to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers' Association (MBWA) Second Team, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Dwyer, the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year made her presence felt on both ends of the floor during her senior season for the Johnnies. After spending the first three years of her collegiate career at Miami, the guard averaged 13.4 points, 3.0 steals, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Dwyer's selection marks the 20th straight season a St. John's women's basketball player has been honored by the MBWA and becomes the 33rd all-time selection for the program. Dwyer will be recognized at 92nd Annual MBWA All-MET Haggerty Awards Dinner on Thursday night at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel in Tarrytown, N.Y.
The 5-foot-7 guard played 29.3 minutes per game logging 13.4 points to lead the team. The Toronto native finish in double-figures in 25 of 31 appearances this season. She shot 42.4 percent from the floor and set a career-high mark in scoring 25 points twice against Penn State on Dec. 2, 2024 and Georgetown on Feb. 26.
An elite on-ball defender, Dwyer became the third player in program history to win BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced on March 6. One of the nation's steals leaders, the Miami transfer led the conference and ranked 14th in NCAA Division I recording 3.0 steals per game. She totaled 92 swipes during the 2024-25 campaign, which ranks fourth-most in a single-season in St. John's women's basketball history and 15th in the country.
In addition to her defensive player of the year honor, Dwyer was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection. Throughout the year, she was named All-MET Player of the Week on Dec. 10 and was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll six times.
