Eli Weidmann finishes atop the leaderboard in fall finale
GLEN COVE, N.Y. – The St. John's men's golf team claimed its first team title of the season on Tuesday, winning the Nassau Intercollegiate hosted by Long Island University at Nassau Country Club.
The Red Storm's team victory was the first for the program since the GolfWeek Invitational in April of 2025.
Eli Weidmann shot a final-round 71 to tie for the top spot on the individual leaderboard, finishing with a share of first place alongside Lehigh's Nathan Le-Nguyen. Le-Nguyen outlasted Weidmann in a playoff, birdieing the second extra hole.
Weidmann becomes the first Johnnie to finish in first place after 54 holes since Joseph Dolezal did so at the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate this past February.
The Johnnies led the Nassau Intercollegiate with a cumulative three-round score of +22, two shots clear of second-place Bryant and 16 strokes ahead of Lehigh in third. All five St. John's golfers participating in the event finished inside the top 15.
Freshman Josh Yan carded the Red Storm's low round of the day, finishing in a tie for third after logging five birdies on his way to an even-par 70 at the famed North Shore club.
Sophomore Curro Martinez also recorded a top-10 finish, shooting a Tuesday 73 to end the tournament at +8 overall.
Classmate Matthew DiFiore jumped four spots on the Tuesday leaderboard with a closing 72 to finish in a tie for 15th (+12).
Sophomore Max McColgan shot a final-round 76 to end the fall season in sole possession of 14th place (+11).
