Darling averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as Red Storm win streak expanded to 11 games
QUEENS, N.Y.– Redshirt junior guard Dylan Darling was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season, the conference office announced on President's Day.
Darling played an integral role in pushing the Red Storm winning streak to 11 games, its longest since it won 12 to start the season in 2018-19. The point guard averaged 19.5 points on 55.0% shooting, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals in 30.4 minutes per game.
The redshirt junior set or matched season-highs in nine different statistical categories during the wins over Xavier and Providence. The Idaho State transfer logged new season-best marks in scoring (23), rebounding (8) and made free throws (8).
Over the last three games, Darling is averaging 16.0 points on 58.3% shooting from the floor. After going 1-for-15 from 3-point range to start the year, the Spokane Wash., native has turned it around cashing in on 17-of-36 attempts (47.2%) from beyond-the-arc.
On Monday in the 87-82 triumph over Xavier at Madison Square Garden, Darling finished with 16 points on 5-for-9 (55.6%) shooting from the field, five rebounds and four assists.
The guard followed it up with his best performance of the season at Amica Mutual Pavilion on Valentine's Day. Darling went for 18 of his season-high 23 points in the second half, leading the Johnnies second half rally. The 2025 Big Sky Player of the Year pulled down eight rebounds all on the defensive end, tallied three steals and connected on 8-of-9 (88.9%) attempts from the free throw line in the Ocean State.
Darling becomes the fifth St. John's player to earn recognition from the conference joining Zuby Ejiofor, Bryce Hopkins, Dillon Mitchell and Oziyah Sellers. He was named the 2025 Big Sky Player of the Year last season and was one of three players in NCAA Division I to rank inside the top-30 in scoring (19.7 PPG) and assists (5.7 APG) for the Bengals.
Darling and the Red Storm will be back in action on Wednesday night when it carries a program record 10-game BIG EAST road winning streak into Marquette for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off at Fiserv Forum.
