Bryce Hopkins Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

St. John’s wing averaged 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds to help the Johnnies defeat Marquette and Creighton while extending the team’s winning streak to 13
QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's men's basketball graduate student Bryce Hopkins was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday after a back-to-back double-double performances in a pair of wins for the No. 17/16 Red Storm last week.
Hopkins earns BIG EAST Player of the Week honors for the third time in his career and first time since 2023.
The Oak Park, Ill., native averaged 19.0 points, 10.0 rebounds on 58.3 percent (14-24 FG) shooting from field goal range, 90.0 percent (9-10) from the free throw line to go with 1.5 steals per game. Hopkins tallied back-to-back double-doubles for the first time since Dec. 17-20, 2022, during his sophomore campaign at Providence.
Hopkins been instrumental in the Johnnies' 13-game winning streak, the third longest active unbeaten run in NCAA Division I. Over the last 13 contests, the veteran has averaged 15.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
On Wednesday, Hopkins went for his first double-double of the 2025-26 campaign, tallying 23 points, matched a season-high 10 rebounds and shot 6-for-7 (85.7%) at the free throw line in a 76-70 victory at Marquette.
Then on Saturday, Hopkins followed it up with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double during an 81-52 victory over Creighton at Madison Square Garden. Hopkins added two steals, shot 3-for-3 from the free throw line and 6-for-10 from the field during the convincing victory over the Bluejays.
Through 27 games, Hopkins is averaging 14.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, both marks rank top-11 in the BIG EAST. Additionally, he checks in seventh in the conference with 105 made free throws.
St. John's will be back in action on Wednesday when it faces UConn for a 7 p.m. tip-off at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford. The contest between the top two teams in the BIG EAST standings will air on Peacock and NBC Sports Network.
