The redshirt sophomore hit five home runs and 12 RBIs on the 3-2 week for the Red Storm
NEW YORK – St. John's baseball slugger Adam Agresti was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week following an impressive stretch of play last week, the league office announced on Monday.
This is the first weekly honor of the catcher's career. The last time a Johnnie was named Player of the Week was Luke Orbon on April 14, 2025. Agresti becomes the third player this season to earn conference recognition, joining Jon LeGrande and Evan Chaffee on the honor roll.
Agresti propelled the Red Storm to a 3-2 week with a series win over Charlotte and a midweek victory over Marist. The Yorktown, N.Y., native batted .400 with six hits, five home runs and 12 RBIs, and had four straight games with a home run, including a walk-off two-run blast to defeat Marist on Wednesday, 3-1.
In Charlotte, the catcher continued his power hitting with a pair of long balls and a career-high six RBIs in the 8-6 series opener against the 49ers. The next day, Agresti launched another home run to extend his streak to five games and was intentionally walked twice.
The redshirt sophomore leads the Red Storm with eight round-trippers, ranking second in the BIG EAST and 32nd nationally. His eight home runs are the most through the first 19 games by a Johnnie in the last 20 years.
Agresti and the rest of the squad are back in action tomorrow at Stony Brook. First pitch from Joe Nathan Field is set for 3 p.m.
