QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball program has secured a commitment from Quinn Ellis to join the Red Storm in 2026-27.
Ellis, a native of Sheffield, England, played this past season with Olimpia Milano. In 35 EuroLeague games, 30 of which were starts, Ellis averaged 8.3 points, 4.5 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals per contest. He shot 37.7% from beyond the arc in EuroLeague action and sank a career-best 82.9% of his tries from the charity stripe. Ellis appeared in 24 of Milano's 25 Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) games in 2025-26, averaging 7.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.1 steal per outing.
"Quinn is a great playmaker, he's a great passer, has terrific size and is a strong shooter," said Head Coach Rick Pitino. "He will come into his own, the ball will be in his hands and he will make everyone around him better."
Before Olimipia Milano, Ellis joined Aquila Basket Trento in 2022. Ellis enjoyed his most productive LBA campaign with Trento in 2024-25, averaging 10.1 points, 5.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 28 games on his way to being named the LBA's Best Young Player. During his debut LBA season with Trento in 2023-24, Ellis averaged 6.3 points and 2.8 assists per outing.
Across 2023-24 and 2024-25, Ellis participated in 32 EuroCup contests with Trento, posting 8.4 points and 4.1 assists per game.
During the 2024-25 season, Ellis led Trento to victory in the Italian Cup, winning MVP honors. This past season, Ellis once again earned MVP honors after guiding Olimpia Milano to the Italian Basketball SuperCup title.
Ellis also boasts extensive experience with Great Britain's senior national team, participating in qualifiers for the 2023 FIBA World Cup, 2025 EuroBasket and 2027 World Cup. In his two most recent outings attempting to qualify for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, Ellis averaged 17.5 points, 7.0 assists and 2.5 steals in games against Italy and Israel. He shot 11-of-22 from the field and 9-of-17 (52.9%) from 3-point range in those two games.
Ellis also appeared with JB Casale Monferrato and came through the youth system of Orlandina Capo d'Orlando from 2019-22.
Ellis joins a talent class of newcomers and five returners from last year's BIG EAST Championship team. The Johnnies are coming off their first Sweet 16 appearance in 27 years and won the outright BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and tournament title for the second straight season.
