QUEENS, N.Y. – For the first time, St. John's Athletics will take part in BTIG Charity Day, a star-studded event that brings together some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment in support of charitable causes.
On Charity Day, BTIG, a global financial services firm specializing in investment banking, institutional trading, research and related brokerage service, donates trading profits in support of numerous charitable organizations nominated by clients.
Since its inception in 2003, BTIG Charity Day has raised more than $60 million to aid worthy non-profit groups around the world.
"When we began this event twenty years ago, our vision was to harness the collective efforts of our industry to give back. Watching Charity Day grow and evolve, and seeing the real difference our contributions make, is deeply rewarding," noted Steven Starker, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of BTIG. "We are grateful for the returning supporters who join us each year, as well as the new celebrity participants who commit their time and energy to furthering our charitable efforts."
For the first time, clients will be able to donate to St. John's Athletics when they trade with BTIG on May 6.
"We're thrilled that BTIG has agreed to include St. John's Athletics among its list of recipients this year for Charity Day," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed Kull. "This event has been a New York staple for more than two decades and I'm honored to have St. John's be a part of it."
The event is enhanced by frequent appearances on the trading floor by actors, athletes, journalists, business leaders and other notable names from an array of industries.
The following celebrities are expected to attend this year: Hank Azaria, Justin Bartha, Jason Biggs, Aaron Boone, Steve Buscemi, Jose Caballero, Brian Cashman, Jazz Chisholm, Victor Cruz, Fernando Cruz, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dillon, Michael Imperioli, David Muir, Petra Nemcova, Robin Roberts, Carlos Rodón, CC Sabathia, John Starks, Michael Strahan, Lawrence Taylor, Justin Tuck and Dominique Wilkins. Additional celebrity participants will be announced in the coming weeks. Chris Wragge will be the Master of Ceremonies.
