St. John’s Places 268 Student-Athletes on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team

NEW YORK – A record number 268 St. John's student-athletes were named to the BIG EAST All- Academic Team for their success in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year, the conference office announced on Tuesday morning.

Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the conference's 11 member schools and affiliate institutions. In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum 3.00 grade point average, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester credits or 27 quarter credits in the preceding year, not including remedial courses.

St. John's lacrosse led the department with 45 honorees, tying its total from a year ago. The 2026 BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament champions baseball team finished with 38 selections. Track & Field led all women's teams with 33 student-athletes to round out the top three. Ten programs placed 10 or more athletes on the list.

On the men's side soccer had 21 student-athletes recognized, followed by tennis with 11, nine from basketball and golf rounded out the men's selections with seven.

On the women's side soccer placed 30 student-athletes on the list, followed by 22 from softball, 15 from volleyball, 11 from both basketball and cross country, eight from tennis and seven from tennis.
