Red Storm will host all 10 BIG EAST games at Madison Square Garden for the first time
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball team has revealed the remainder of its 2026-27 schedule, a loaded 31-game slate that will see the Red Storm take on some of the biggest names in college basketball and features at least 14 dates at Madison Square Garden.
For the first time in program history, all the Red Storm's BIG EAST home games will be held inside The World's Most Famous Arena. In total, the Johnnies will play at least 12 regular season home contests at Madison Square Garden for the second straight season. Additionally, the Red Storm will host a pair of exhibition matchups at The Mecca against Rutgers (Oct. 18) and Texas (Oct. 25).
Ticket plans for all games at MSG are available to purchase now. Tickets to the Red Storm's exhibition games against Rutgers and Texas will go on sale Wednesday. Single-game tickets will go on sale in mid-October. Full season ticket plans including the five regular season games at Carnesecca Arena are sold out.
Tip-off times and television destinations will be announced at a later date.
In addition to a previously announced game against Arizona (Dec. 5), the Red Storm's non-conference slate also features a contest against Syracuse at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 15. It will be the first meeting between St. John's and Syracuse since 2022 and the first at Madison Square Garden since 2015. The Orange, a former BIG EAST rival, is the sixth most frequently played opponent in program history, as the two teams will meet for the 93rd time later this fall. St. John's has won each of its last four meetings against Syracuse.
The Red Storm will also play Iona for the second straight season, but the date and location of that contest have not been finalized:
Fans can get their first look at the Red Storm during an exhibition against Drexel, which will take place at Carnesecca Arena on Oct. 14. Following the two aforementioned exhibitions against Rutgers and Texas at The Garden, the Johnnies will officially open the 2026-27 regular season on Nov. 2 against Monmouth at Carnesecca Arena. It will be the fifth meeting all-time between the Red Storm and the Hawks. St. John's won each of the first four, the last of which came in December of 2021.
The Red Storm will return to Queens on Nov. 11 for a Wednesday night matchup against Colgate. St. John's is 5-0 all-time against the Raiders at Carnesecca Arena since it opened as Alumni Hall in 1961.
Following the contest against Syracuse in Midtown, St. John's will return to Queens to host yet another Empire State opponent when it welcomes Siena to Carnesecca Arena on Nov. 18. It will mark the first meeting between the Red Storm and Saints since 2009 and the first in Queens since 1983.
On Nov. 24, the Red Storm will play its first game at The Players Era Championship against Oregon. Tip-off from Las Vegas is set for 10:30 ET. The Johnnies will then play games on Nov. 26 and Nov. 27 at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Should the Red Storm go 3-0 to start in Sin City, the Johnnies will play in the championship game on Nov. 28. If the Johnnies do not qualify for the decisive contest of the Players Era Championship, the Red Storm will host Columbia on Dec. 1 in Queens. If the Columbia game does not occur, season ticket holders will be refunded for the price of the ticket.
The Red Storm will host a marquee non-conference matchup at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 5 when Arizona comes to The Big Apple for the Hall of Fame Series New York. The Wildcats are coming off a Final Four appearance in 2026 and return two starters from a team that went 36-3, including All-Big 12 First Team selection Motiejus Krivas.
After playing host to Wagner for its final game of the season at Carnesecca Arena on Dec. 8, the Red Storm will head south to Birmingham for a showdown against Alabama in the C.M. Newton Classic on Dec. 12. The Red Storm will look to avenge a 103-96 loss to the Crimson Tide last season at MSG.
The Red Storm will kick off conference play on Dec. 19 when it hosts DePaul at Madison Square Garden. It will mark the third straight year that St. John's has opened league action against the Blue Demons. The Red Storm has won nine straight against DePaul dating back to 2022.
The Johnnies will play their first BIG EAST road game of the season on Dec. 23 when they travel to Newark for a contest against Seton Hall. The last time St. John's ventured to Prudential Center on March 6, the Red Storm left with its second straight BIG EAST Regular Season title.
Following a week off around Christmas, the Red Storm will return to action on Dec. 30 at Providence. The Red Storm picked up a pair of wins against the Friars last season, coming away victorious at Amica Mutual Pavilion and in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals at Madison Square Garden. Dec. 30 will mark the 130th meeting all-time between the two teams, as the Friars are the second most frequently played opponent in program history.
St. John's will play its third straight BIG EAST road game on Jan. 3, opening 2027 with a contest at Butler. Last season, the Red Storm won in Indianapolis on Jan. 6, kicking off a 13-game winning streak that spanned 51 days. It was the second longest BIG EAST winning streak in program history.
Following three straight on the road, the Red Storm will return home for two games at The Garden beginning on Jan. 6 against Georgetown. The Johnnies have won 11 straight against the Hoyas, the longest winning streak in the series dating back to 1909 and the longest by St. John's against a BIG EAST opponent since defeating UConn 17 straight times from 1981-89.
After a week off, St. John's will host Providence on Jan. 13 at MSG for the second meeting of the season between the two teams.
St. John's will begin a two-game Midwest road swing on Jan. 16 with a Saturday showdown at Creighton. Last season, the Red Storm ran away with a 90-73 win in Omaha, just the second road win all-time against the Bluejays for the Johnnies in 15 tries. Three days later on Jan. 19, the Red Storm will take on DePaul in The Windy City
A month to the day after their first meeting, the Johnnies will wrap the season series with Seton Hall on Jan. 23 at Madison Square Garden.
Head Coach Rick Pitino will face off against his son, Richard, for the first time this season on Jan. 26 when the Red Storm and the Xavier Musketeers meet in Cincinnati. The last time St. John's ventured to the Queen City, the elder Pitino captured his 900th career collegiate coaching victory.
For the second straight season, St. John's and Connecticut will meet on a Friday night inside The World's Most Famous Arena, as the first rematch of last year's BIG EAST Championship Game will take place on Jan. 29 at Madison Square Garden. Last season, the Red Storm knocked off the Huskies, 81-72, on Feb. 6 in Midtown. Just over one month later, the Johnnies defeated UConn again in the BIG EAST title game, clinching the Red Storm's second straight conference crown.
The Red Storm will open the month of February in Milwaukee, where it will meet Marquette on Feb. 2. Four days later, the Johnnies will venture to The City of Brotherly Love for a road game against the Villanova Wildcats. The game's exact location will be announced at a later date.
The Johnnies' longest homestand of BIG EAST play will begin on Feb. 10 when the Red Storm welcomes Creighton to Madison Square Garden for a Wednesday night contest. After playing host to Xavier on Saturday, Feb. 13, St. John's will match up against Marquette in Midtown on Feb. 17.
Following a Saturday trip to take on Georgetown in the nation's capital on Feb. 20, St. John's will return to The Mecca for its final regular season home contests against Villanova (Feb. 23) and Butler (Feb. 27).

St. John's will look to become the just the second team in conference history to win three straight BIG EAST titles alongside Villanova (2017-19).
The Red Storm is coming off yet another stellar season in 2025-26. The Johnnies swept the outright BIG EAST Regular Season and BIG EAST Tournament Championships for the second straight year, becoming the first team in league history to accomplish the feat in back-to-back seasons. The Red Storm advanced to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 27 years, punching its ticket to the Sweet 16 with a 67-65 win over Kansas in the Second Round.
After leading the Red Storm to its second straight 30-win season, three Johnnies were selected in the 2026 NBA Draft: Zuby Ejiofor (Atlanta-23rd), Dillon Mitchell (Boston-40th) and Bryce Hopkins (Denver-49th). It marked the first time since 1983 that three or more Johnnies had been taken in the same NBA Draft and the first time in program history that three players were taken in the first two rounds.
