Kevin Delaney was named Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at St. John?s in October 2003. He comes to St. John?s after seven years at Hofstra University. At St. John?s, he will oversee the compliance and academic services for all of the Red Storm?s varsity athletic programs. A former University of Maine baseball player, Delaney joined Hofstra in 1996 as an assistant baseball coach. His duties included working with the Hofstra infielders and outfielders as well as serving as the baseball recruiting coordinator for two seasons.
In the Fall of 1998, Delaney left coaching to become Hofstra's Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance. While serving as Assistant Athletic Director, he also served as the team administrator for the Hofstra football, baseball, wrestling, softball, golf, tennis and cross country teams, as well as strength and conditioning.
Prior to his stint at Hofstra, Delaney spent one season (1995-96) at Brown University as an assistant baseball coach. He also served as a graduate assistant coach at Springfield College during the 1994 and 1995 seasons, and was assistant director at the Atlantic Baseball Academy during the summer of 1995. In addition to his baseball and administrative background, Delaney has been a member of the National Ski Patrol since 1992, patrolling at Mount Snow in Vermont. He is a certified winter emergency technician and is certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid and CPR.
Delaney earned his bachelor's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from the University of Maine in 1992. He went on to earn his master's degree in Education with a concentration in Athletic Administration at Springfield College in 1995.
Kevin and his wife, Cheryl, are the proud parents of a son, Matthew (two years) and Lauren (three months).
