SJU-TV Nominated For Two College Sports Media Awards
SVG, NACDA will reveal winners at 2015 College Sports Summit in Atlanta, Ga., on May 28.
Ryan Gilbert was hired as the Director of Multimedia Services during the summer of 2014 after completing two years as an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. Gilbert is responsible for all live and post-production projects for the athletic department's 17 varsity teams.
His duties consist of directing live broadcasts for ESPN3 and RedStormSports.com, shooting and editing the Red Storm Report TV show on the Madison Square Garden Networks, and producing special features, interviews and highlights for RedStormSports.com, the SJU-TV YouTube channel, and St. John's athletics' social media platforms.
Gilbert's video work at St. John's includes the 2014-15 Men's Basketball intro video, the 2014-15 Women's Basketball intro video, the 2014-15 Men's Basketball Ticket Commercial, the 2013 and 2014 Red Storm Tip Off intro videos, the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 baseball intro videos, the 2013 and 2014 volleyball intro videos, the 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14, 2014-15 Year End Highlight videos, and the #SJUBB & #SJUWBB Taking Europe By Storm web series.
Prior to being hired as a Graduate Assistant in 2012, Gilbert was a full-time intern with Athletic Communications during 2011-12. His other internships include two stints with the Brooklyn Cyclones -- one as a media relations intern and the other as a marketing/promotions intern. Gilbert also served as a student-manager with the St. John's baseball team during 2010-11.
Gilbert was born and raised in New York, N.Y., growing up and going to school on the Upper West Side. He graduated from St. John's University with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management in 2011 and graduated with his M.B.A. in Marketing Management in 2014.
