Opening Statement…
“Obviously, another close one for us that we weren’t able to pull out. I thought we played well in certain areas of the game, [but] we weren’t able to execute the small things down the stretch. We had some good looks, and I thought we got some good shots that we think we can make. We didn’t finish. They were able to make [shots] enough to put us in a position to foul. We battled against a disciplined team, and the more disciplined team came away with the win.”
On the balanced scoring effort…
“We’ve seen it all year. We haven’t had an issue with scoring. Marquette does a good job of being disciplined on both ends. They made it harder for us, at times. [They] took away some of the things we knew they were going to take away. When that happens, you need to be even more locked in. To have other guys step up, we’ve seen it at Georgetown and DePaul, so it’s nothing new.”
On defending Karissa McLaughlin…
“She hit the one that mattered, so I’m not sure we did a great job in that area. She had a nice game. She does a good job. We had played against her when she was at Purdue. She’s done a really nice job for them and given them a big boost where they probably needed it. She did a good job of getting open and reading screens. We had a plan that we executed a little bit against her, and in other areas we had some slippage. For veteran kids like that, if they get open, they can make shots, and she did.”
