Opening Statement…
“What a game, St. John’s vs. DePaul, double overtime. Our guys they just wouldn’t quit even though they had every reason to. We made our free throws and defensive stops. Our coaching staff did a good job of drawing up something to give our guys a good shot. We had a lot of guys making plays and I can’t say enough about our defense and Dylan Addae-Wusu. Tonight, he was really outstanding on the offensive end and defensively. He made some great plays and big shots down the stretch. It was a good team win and we are just trying to build off of that. I thought fatigue was a big factor in the game. In the last overtime, I thought fatigue became a factor. That was big going down the stretch. We just had a bit more in our tank than DePaul did.“
On holding DePaul to one made shot in the overtime periods.…
“I thought we were connected. We made them take difficult shots. And not only, did we make them take those shots, but we came up with the rebounds as well.”
On Dylan Addae-Wusu’s three-pointer at the end of regulation…
“I don’t think he’s ever seen a shot he didn’t like. In that particular moment, he got the screen and he did a good job to knock it down. That’s a guy that’s been here and he’s been looking forward to having an opportunity.”
On overcoming a double-digit deficit on Tuesday…
“I thought in that second half when they went up [13], [Addae-Wusu] was the guy that helped stabilize us until some other guys got some traction. It comes back to our defense. That was the difference in this game.”
