Opening Statement…
“Obviously a great performance by Creighton. They are ranked for a reason and I thought they had their way with us pretty much all night. Got to every spot they needed too and we really didn’t disrupt at all. I mean I’m certainly disappointed in the loss. We got to be able to do a better job in that situation. We’ll manage it and we got to get ready for the next one, which is most important. But credit to Creighton, obviously they are extremely good and they picked us apart today.”
On lack of adjustments made by the Red Storm…
“You know, match up wise for us it was very difficult. We did a better job at their place with taking some things away. We just let them catch what they wanted too. They spread you out well, they make you move. I thought we had to exert way more energy than they did on both ends of the court and it gassed us and we looked tired.”
On Ber’Nyah Mayo’s impact on the court…
“I think Ber’Nayh has played really well for us in the last month and a half. That’s been a reason why we have certainly done better. She struggled at Butler and we lost. We don’t have a lot of room for slippage and we had that today. We don’t have a lot of room for guys to not play to what they are capable of. So, she’s been really good. Obviously, she shot it a little bit at the end and she was more aggressive on the attack. The moments when we had to make a bucket and get a stop, we just didn’t do it. Some of those are playing a little fast and not making the right reads and then there are times when some of the calls weren’t conducive of who we had on the court.”
On what he wants to see going into the Georgetown game…
“I’ve said this all year, this group has been as different as any group I’ve ever coached, like they all are. When we play the right way, we’re tough. [Georgetown} is extremely good at home, I think. They play hard, they are physical. I thought we played well here against them. Obviously the fourth quarter needed to be better. We have to be more in tune to what the gameplan is and also be able to get contributions from others because it allows people to rest. We just didn’t have it that way tonight, unfortunately. We’ll get ready and be ready to go. We haven’t had an easy schedule for whatever reason. That’s not a reason why we don’t win, we just have quick turn arounds, compression and then we have a long time off coming up. We got to figure out a way to scratch something here in the next three games. But at least we will get a regular lay out for the next two. So, we will get ready for it like we normally do.”
