While with Long Beach State, Benedetti also spent two summers as an assistant coach in the Northwoods League. Benedetti was the hitting coach for the Alexandria Beetles when the squad led the league in hitting in 2012 and also served as the pitching coach for the Thunder Bay Border Cats in 2011.
Benedetti began his coaching career immediately after the 2009 college baseball season, serving as a high school assistant coach at Los Alamitos.
A two-time All-BIG EAST selection after transferring from Irvine Valley J.C., Benedetti earned second team all-conference accolades as a junior before adding third team honors as a senior. The catcher batted .332 with 18 doubles, 50 RBI and a .392 on-base percentage in his two seasons with the Red Storm. Benedetti also threw out 45.3 percent (29-of-64) of potential base stealers and struck out just 28 times in 277 at-bats.
Benedetti graduated from St. John's in 2009 with a degree in history and earned his masters in public administration and policy in 2013 from Long Beach State.
