Jon LeGrande Named Cape Cod Baseball League Playoffs MVP

LeGrande becomes the first St. John’s baseball player to take home the award
SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. — St. John's outfielder Jon LeGrande was named the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) Playoff MVP, the organization announced Tuesday after the rising senior helped guide the Bourne Braves to their fourth league championship.
The Bronx, N.Y., native appeared in 38 games, making 36 appearances. for CCBL's Bourne Braves as an outfielder. LeGrande posted a .288 batting average with a .753 OPS, collecting 38 hits, 16 RBIs and 23 runs.
Throughout the CCBL's postseason, the rising senior's dominance only continued. Hitting an astounding .444, he added 12 hits, nine runs, six walks, and five RBIs, LeGrande led the Braves to a commanding 19-2 championship win over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.
Notable past winners of the CCBL Playoff MVP include Philadelphia Phillies' left fielder and three-time MLB All-Star Kyle Schwarber, as well as MLB All-Star pitcher David Robertson.
A transfer from Wabash Valley College in 2025, LeGrande made an instant impact as both a hitter and outfielder during his first season in Queens. In 28 starts last season, LeGrande slashed a batting line of .298/.387/.413, contributing 15 runs for the Red Storm.
Before attending St. John's, LeGrande made 112 appearances for Wabash Valley College across his freshman and sophomore campaigns. In 2024, he hit .370 with 67 RBIs, 10 home runs and 43 stolen bases, earning NJCAA All-American honors.
LeGrande will return to St. John's for his senior season under Head Coach Mike Hampton in 2026, now equipped with new hardware courtesy of the outstanding postseason run in the CCBL.
