Duval Kirkaldy is in his third season at St. John’s as the men’s basketball program’s strength and conditioning coach.
Kirkaldy came to Queens following a stint at Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va., where he served as the strength and conditioning coach for the Thundering Herd’s men’s basketball, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball programs.
Prior to Marshall, Kirkaldy spent four years at UCLA working as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Bruins’ men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Kirkaldy also has extensive international experience, having worked with professional teams in China. In 2013, he was the with the men’s and women’s Liaoning National team during the 12th National Games of the People’s Republic of China.
Kirkaldy interned at his alma mater, Florida Atlantic, from 2009-12.
Kirkaldy is not unfamiliar with St. John’s, having interned at the university in 2010 with the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
Kirkaldy is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Speed and Explosive Specialist Certification from National Association of Speed and Explosion. He is also a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2004. He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and health promotion from Florida Atlantic University and then earned his master’s degree in rehabilitation science from California University of Pennsylvania.
