Esayas Gebrekidan is in his first season serving as a graduate assistant with the St. John’s men’s basketball program.
Gebrekidan joined the Red Storm staff after spending the past two seasons as assistant video coordinator with the Stanford men’s basketball team. In this position, Esayas assisted with scouting, recruiting and regular day-to-day operations of the men’s basketball program. Prior to Stanford, he spent two years at Santa Clara as a video assistant for the men’s basketball program from 2014-16. He was responsible for assisting the coaching staff with scouts while aiding in film coordination of practice and competition.
Gebrekidan received his bachelor’s degree in mass communication and media studies from Sacramento State in 2010. He received a master’s degree in kinesiology and sport management from St. Mary’s College of California in 2014.
