Made three appearances off the bench … Saw action at Creighton (Jan. 25) and against Butler (March 8) … Logged his first career steal against No. 16/15 Xavier (Feb. 4).
2021-22
Appeared in two games as a reserve before missing a significant portion of the season with injury... attempted one field goal, a 3-pointer, in his collegiate debut against Mississippi Valley State (Nov. 9)... also saw the floor against Saint Peter's (Nov. 13).
Before College
Attended Montverde Academy, where he competed with the CBD National Team and won the coaches award as a senior in 2020-21… was a member of the National Honor Society in high school.

Jason Simpson… born in Huntington, N.Y.… son of John Simpson and Rita Rodriguez… has two brothers, Daniel and Scottie… his brother, Scottie Barnes, was the 2021 ACC Freshman of the Year at Florida State before being taken fourth overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2021 NBA Draft… his father, John Simpson, played basketball at Virginia State… chose St. John’s for a combination of academics, basketball and location… lists his brothers as the people he admires most and Steve Nash as his favorite athlete.
