An instant fan favorite originally as a walk-on graduate student before earning a scholarship from Head Coach Mike Anderson... saw action in nine games... grabbed two rebounds and recorded a steal… made his St. John’s debut against Mercer (Nov. 6)… had a steal against Central Connecticut State (Nov. 9)… grabbed a rebound against Wagner (Nov. 30)… pulled down a board in the Red Storm’s win over Creighton (March 1).
Before St. John’s
Played four years of lacrosse at the University of Maryland, primarily as a short stick defensive midfielder, before coming to St. John’s for graduate school… won a national championship with the Terps as a sophomore in 2017… appeared in all 35 of Maryland’s games over his final two seasons and was named a team captain as a senior… a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection… competed with the Puerto Rican National Team at the 2018 World Lacrosse Championships in Israel.
Before College
A two-time NSCHSAA all-league selection in both basketball and lacrosse at Chaminade High School… a 1,000-point scorer for Head Coach Bob Paul… an Newsday All-Long Island basketball selection... played on the AAU circuit for Rising Stars and Coach Dan Gimpel... won five total NSCHSAA Championships in high school (two basketball, two lacrosse, one football)… rated as the no. 82 recruit in the nation by Inside Lacrosse for the class of 2015.

Thomas Timothy O'Connell... son of Tim and Tara O’Connell… his mother, Tara, was a two-time All-BIG EAST selection for the St. John's Softball team... both of his parents are double alumni of the University, holding bachelors and masters degrees... younger brother, Michael, is rated as the no. 60 recruit in the high school class of 2020 by Inside Lacrosse.
