Kevin Wehner is entering his sixth year with the St. John's Athletic Department in 2026-27 and currently serves as the Director of Athletic Communications.
In his current role, Wehner manages the day-to-day responsibilities of the athletic communications office. Additionally, he serves as the secondary contact for the men's basketball program and the primary for men's soccer, men's golf and women's golf.
During his tenure in Queens, Wehner has overseen the publicity of seven NCAA Tournament appearances, eight BIG EAST Team and Individual Champions, two All-Americans, two Naismith National Basketball Coaches’ of the Year award Semifinalists, 11 major BIG EAST Award winners, three BIG EAST Coaches’ of the year and 30 all-conference selections.
Prior to his current role, Wehner spent two and a half years as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications serving as the primary communications contact for women's basketball, women's soccer, men's golf and women's golf.
Wehner completed a two-year stint as a graduate assistant in the department from 2021-22 before transitioning to a full-time role in December 2022. As a graduate assistant, he served as the primary contact for the lacrosse, men’s and women’s tennis and fencing programs. Additionally, he served as the tertiary contact for the men’s basketball program and overs
Prior to St. John's, Wehner graduated from the University of Rhode Island in December 2020. He earned a bachelor's degree in public Relations and sports media, along with minors in business administration and communication studies. In 2024, the Albany native completed his master’s degree in sports management at St. John’s.
While at Rhode Island, Wehner interned in the athletic media relations department for one year. He wrote game recaps and operated the social media accounts for the men's basketball and football teams.
Additionally during his time on campus, the Albany, N.Y. native covered University of Rhode Island Athletics as a reporter and broadcaster for KevinMcSports.com and WRIU 90.3 FM. Wehner served as President of the sports media club Anchor Sports Network and the Visit Enhancement Coordinator for URI's tour guide team.
Wehner held internships with amateur sports teams the Albany Dutchmen and Providence City F.C. assisting in communication roles. He also worked as a Website Development Intern for the New York State Office of Information Technology Services.
Wehner is a native of Albany, N.Y. and currently resides in Astoria, Queens with his fiance Jessica.
