Matthew Wenz is in his first year as a Graduate Assistant in the St. John’s Athletic Communications office, serving as the primary contact for the Red Storm’s volleyball, women’s cross country, and track & field programs.
Prior to arriving at St. John’s, Wenz was a standout student-athlete at Division II Adelphi University, where he competed on the track and field team competing in the decathlon and heptathlon. During his career with the Panthers, he was a two-time Northeast-10 Conference Champion, a seven-time USTFCCCA All-East Region selection, and a two-time school record holder. He also received numerous academic honors at both the conference and institutional level.
In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Wenz gained valuable experience in the Adelphi Athletics Department as a communications intern and served as a student supervisor for game-day operations and event staff. He also held a leadership role as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), helping to coordinate community service initiatives and advocate for student-athlete interests.
A Queens, N.Y. native, Wenz earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications and Media Studies from Adelphi graduating Cum Laude. He is currently pursuing his MBA in Strategic Management at the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University and continues to reside in his hometown.
