St. Johns, the 1996 NCAA Champions, are currently at the top of the BIG EAST with a 5-1-1 record. Their only BIG EAST match-up this weekend was against the #3 ranked Connecticut Huskies. The two teams played to a 0-0 overtime tie at DaSilva Memorial Field. The Red Storm defeated Adelphi, 2-1, in overtime last Wednesday.
The Red Storm is one of three BIG EAST teams to be ranked in the top ten of the NSCAA coaches poll. Connecticut moved up to #2, while Pittsburgh moved from #15 to #9. In the Soccer America poll, Connecticut is also #2, with Pittsburgh at #15.
St. Johns will participate in the Adidas Classic at Rutgers University this week. They will take on American University on October 6th at 6:00 p.m. The Storm will then face #22 St. Louis on Sunday, October 8th at 1:00 p.m.
