STORM ROUT NY GAZELLES IN EXHIBITION OPENER

Brown, who hit seven-of-nine from the floor including four three-pointers, also dished out six assists and pulled down six rebounds in 34 minutes in her first game for the Storm.
Both teams were slow out of the gate in the early going, as the Storm found themselves trailing 10-7 at the 13:26 mark of the first half. But a three-pointer by Brown tied the game at 10-10 which ignited a 12-0 run by the Storm over the next four minutes. Freshman Sherri Brown (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) got into the action, scoring six straight points in the run. The Storm led by as many as 16 in the half, and went into the lockerroom with a 35-20 lead.
In the second half the Storm kept pouring it on, and went on to win by 30. The Gazelles held a 20-8 edge on the offensive glass, but connected on only 15 field goals for the game. The Storm also forced 28 Gazelle turnovers while committing only 18.
Senior Latasha Thompson (Newark, N.J./Bloomfield Tech) was the only other SJU player in double figures with 14 points. Senior Tynisha Myles (Paterson, N.J./Paterson Catholic) chipped in with seven points and a team-high nine rebounds. Senior Katrina Johns (Baltimore, Md./Randallstown) was perfect on the afternoon, making both field goal attempts and all five free throws for nine points to go along with six rebounds.
The Storm have one more tuneup before the regular season begins when they host EOS Malbas, a Swedish team, on Thursday, November 9 at 7:30 in Alumni Hall.
