Red Storm Take One

The Red Storm (9-12) completed a four game home stand today, with a split against Harvard University (2-7) at Queens College, Flushing, NY. In the first game of a double header, St. John's defeated Harvard, 2-1. In the first inning, freshman Alicia Argeras reached base on an era, then advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third. Sophomore Ann Raab popped up to right field, but Jen Crusius misplayed the ball, which scored Argeras. Junior Lisa Tropea led off the third inning with a double and scored on a single by junior Lauren Fisher. Junior Gina Calabrese struck out 12 to win her third in a row and improved her record to 8-4. In the second game, Harvard bounced back to defeat St. John's 4-0. In the fourth inning Cherry Fu reached base on a throwing era by freshman Jessica Shepherd. Ghia Godfree followed with a double scoring Fu. Godfree crossed the plate on a single by Suzanne Guy. In her first appearance of the season, junior Michele Crokus pitched four innings and picked up the loss for St. John's.
