The honor marks the senior’s second consecutive first team nod
NEW YORK — St. John's softball senior pitcher Ana Serafinko has been named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning.
Serafinko becomes just the fourth Johnnie in program history to earn All-BIG EAST honors in three consecutive seasons, joining Tori Free, Brittany Garcia and Gretchen Bowie.
As a junior in 2025, Serafinko earned a spot on the league's first team, while being named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year after breaking the conference record for strikeouts in a single season. Following her sophomore campaign, the Chino Hills, Calif., native was named to the conference's second team.
In 2026, Serafinko again proved to be one of the nation's top arms, posting the second-most strikeouts (279) in NCAA Division I. Serafinko also finished fifth in the country in complete games (21), seventh in innings pitched (195.1) and eighth in strikeouts per seven innings (10.0).
Throughout conference play, Serafinko's brilliance continued, producing a 3.48 ERA in 20 appearances. The southpaw's 131 strikeouts in league play led the BIG EAST by nearly 80 punchouts, while also topping the league in complete games (12) and innings pitched (100.2).
On May 4, Serafinko was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time this season, surpassing her own previous program record of four set during the 2025 campaign.
Four of Serafinko's pitcher of the week honors came in consecutive weeks, as she earned the award in back-to-back weeks from March 16-23 and again from April 27-May 4. Serafinko was the only BIG EAST pitcher in 2026 to earn the honor in consecutive weeks.
The left-hander surpassed Free to become the Red Storm's all-time strikeout leader on March 14 as part of a complete-game, season-high 15-strikeout performance in the circle in a win over Army. She will depart St. John's having amassed a program-record 751 career punchouts.
A standout two-way player, Serafinko recorded a .329 batting average, logging 48 hits in 146 at bats, nine doubles and three home runs. The senior finishes her career having led the Johnnies to a program record 39 victories and a BIG EAST Regular Season Championship in 2025.
