Red Storm Prevail in Season Opener

Jamaica, NY - Marissa Stork's game-winner in the second half broke a 1-1 tie, defeating the Fordham Rams, 2-1, in a women's soccer match-up at DaSilva Memorial Field.
Stork (Flushing, NY/St. Francis Prep) took a feed from Jaime Clark (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa HS) and broke away with the ball, netting the game-winner at the 76:09 mark. Clark had two assists in the game.
St. John's took an early 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when Kristy Bergen Massapequa, NY/Massapequa HS) found the back of the net from 25 yards out, blasting the ball past Fordham goalkeeper, Shannon Misiaszek. Clark and Erin Zambelli (Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem HS) were credited with assists.
Fordham tied the score at one at 40:01 when Corinne Jankowski netted a feed from Erin Safarik. The Rams were held to just one shot in the second half by the Red Storm defense.
Jen Frankel earned her first win of the season, saving two shots and allowing just one goal.
