Volleyball Overpowers Florida Atlantic, 3-0

Senior captain Kristy Mercein (East Meadow, N.Y.) led the Red Storm attack with match-highs in kills (14) and digs (22). Florida Atlantic trailed for all of game one before tying it at 27, then Mercein notched two kills to give the Red Storm a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore setter Robyn Kurasaki (Milliani, Hawaii) put Flordia Atlantic behind 23-16 in game two with her aggressive serving. The Red Storm went on to win game two and easily take game three.
St. John's led Florida Atlantic in every category, except blocks and service aces. The Red Storm recorded 51 kills and 58 digs on the night, compared to Florida Atlantic's 40 and 48, respectively.
The Red Storm play another non-conference match tonight at 7pm versus the University of Miami.
