Womens Basketball Picked 13th in Preseason BIG EAST Coaches Poll

Newark, N.J.- The St. Johns women's basketball team was picked to finish 13th of 14 squads in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Thursday, October 25 at the BIG EAST Media Day at Newark, N.J. Connecticut, which shared the 2000-01 BIG EAST regular-season title with Notre Dame was picked first in the 2001-02 Preseason Poll.
The Red Storm return two starters from last year's team, which finished the 2001-02 season with an 8-20 mark and a 3-13 record (tie-12th place) in BIG EAST action.
St. Johns will open its 2001-02 season with an exhibition game against Basketball Travelers on November 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Alumni Hall. The team will open its regular-season home schedule against Hofstra on Friday, November 23 at 6:15 p.m. at Alumni Hall as part of the SJU Thanksgiving Tournament.
