West Georgia transfer ranked third in the ASUN in scoring in 2025-26
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's Women's Basketball program has announced the signing of the third-leading scorer in the ASUN, Asia Donald out of West Georgia.
"Asia is a proven scorer who plays with toughness and confidence every time she steps on the floor," Head Coach Joe Tartamella. "She can score at all three levels and brings tenacity at the defensive end of the floor. We're excited to have her join our program."
The guard will arrive in Queens after leading the Wolves and ranking third in the ASUN in scoring, logging 14.8 points per contest on 44.0 percent shooting from the field. Donald helped guide West Georgia to an 18-win season in just its second season at the Division I level and began her collegiate career at Indiana State.
The Hobart Ind., native scored in double figures in 26 of 31 games and recorded five 20-point performances throughout the season. Donald's 460 points ranked inside the top-25 for most the highest single-season total in West Georgia Women's Basketball history.
Donald's highest scoring outing came in a four-overtime thriller at North Alabama, where she poured in a career-high 24 points. The guard also registered a double-double in a road victory over Lipscomb, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
In addition to her scoring production, Donald ranked second in the team in rebounding averaging 5.0 boards per game. She provided a boost on the glass pulling down five or more rebounds in 18 of her 31 appearances.
Donald spent her freshman season at Indiana State in 2023-24, where she made 30 appearances off the bench. The guard averaged 5.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 12.5 of action per game. She went for five double-digit scoring efforts, including a season-high 15 points at Missouri.
A strong free throw shooter, Donald boasts a career free throw percentage of 81.1% (176-217). As a rookie, she tallied a career-best mark of 84.8% (56-66) at the charity stripe and shot 79.5% (120-151) this past season.
Prior to entering the collegiate ranks, Donald was a standout at Hobart High School. As a senior, she led the Hoosier State in scoring pouring in 26.7 points per game, while averaging a double-double adding 10.9 rebounds per contest. Across her interscholastic career, the 2023 Post Tribune Girls Basketball Player of the Year totaled more than 1,700 points and 700 rebounds during her tenure. She was a two-time All-State selection and boasted a career average of 20.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 1.5 assists per game.
Donald joins five returners from this year's squad, Belmont transfer Sanaa Tripp, and three incoming freshmen on the Johnnies' 2026-27 roster.
