St. Johns Picked to Finish Seventh in the BIG EAST

Jamaica, N.Y. The St. Johns softball team was picked to finish 7th of 11 squads in the 2002 BIG EAST Softball preseason coaches' poll released on Tuesday, December 18 by the conference office in Providence, R.I. Notre Dame, which finished 2001 with 54-7 record and Villanova, who had a 43-10 record last year, were picked to finish first in the 2002 Preseason Poll.
The Red Storm return seven starters from last year's team, which finished the 2001 season with an 30-31 mark and an 8-12 record (6th place) in BIG EAST action.
St. Johns will open its 2002 season at the Seminole Classic, hosted by Florida State in Tallahasee, Fla.
