SOPHOMORE ANGELA STITH DISMISSED FROM SJU WOMENS BASKETBALL TEAM

JAMAICA, N.Y. Head womens basketball coach Darcel Estep announced that sophomore Angela Stith (Florissant, Mo.) has been dismissed from the St. Johns University womens basketball team for violating team rules.

Stith was a two-year letterwinner for the Red Storm who appeared in 14 games this season in a reserve role. She scored 17 points with eight rebounds on the season and averaged 5.5 minutes per game. As a freshman in the program, Stith appeared in all 28 games, starting 12 times. She averaged 2.5 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. Stith was also a former Street & Smith preseason honorable mention All-American as a junior at Rosary High School.

The Red Storm concluded the regular season on Tuesday with an 8-19 overall record and were 3-13 in the BIG EAST Conference. St. Johns has advanced as the 12th seed in the 2001 BIG EAST Tournament and are slated to take on #5 Villanova on Saturday, March 3 at 12:00 p.m. at the Gampel Pavilion on Storrs, Conn.
