Red Storm Soccer Beats MetroStars, 1-0, in Exhibition

Junior Shalrie Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal in the second half for the Red Storm. The teams played 80 minutes, with two 40-minute halves. Players who appeared for the MetroStars included Orlando Perez, former UCLA standout Steve Shak and Rodrigo Faria, the teams #1 pick from Concordia College, a native of Brazil.
The Red Storm, who finished 14-5-2 overall last season and reached the NCAA Round of 16 for the fifth straight year, return several key players from last years squad, led by first-team All-BIG EAST selections Joseph and Jeff Matteo (Stormville, N.Y.).
St. Johns will next play the Long Island RoughRiders on April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at home. The teams other games this spring include a match at Rutgers, on Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m., and on April 28th, playing the University of Maryland in Kirkwood, Delaware.
