Red Storm Fall to Pittsburgh, 45-77

In the first half, the Red Storm connected on just eight field goals and did not take any trips to the free throw line. On the other hand, the Panthers notched 14 first half field goals and hit 12 free throws to take a 44-16 lead at the break.
Pittsburgh outrebounded St. Johns 41-33 and committed just 14 turnovers to the Red Storms 23. On the night, the Panthers hit nine threes and dished out 22 assists. SJU did not hit a shot from three-point range for the second consecutive game, going 0-for-5 from behind the arc.
Sophomore Shemika Stevens (New York, N.Y.) led the Red Storm for the second consecutive game, recording 14 points, five rebounds and a team-high three steals. Freshman Patrycja Gulak (Olsztyn, Poland) also recorded double-figure points, posting 11 with six rebounds, two blocks and a team-high three assists. Junior Creasie Fowler (Milwaukee, Wis.) was the teams leading rebounder, grabbing 10 on the night and chipping in six points. Senior Kenyawna Hudgens (Washington, D.C.) and freshman Mary Pat Statler (New Cumberland, W.Va.) each added five points to the Red Storm effort.
Junior Laine Selwyn led Pittsburgh, recording the first triple double in school history with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Haley Harguth led all scorers with 20 points, including five threes.
The Red Storm (3-20, 0-11) return to action on Wednesday, February 13 when they travel to South Bend, Ind. to take on Notre Dame at 7:00pm.
