SJU Softball Drops Season Opener to Penn State, 6-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., - The St. John's softball team dropped its season opener to Penn State, 6-0, in its first game of the Seminole Classic in Tallahassee, Fla.
Freshman Meghan Allman (San Diego, Calif.), making the first start of her career, recorded two outs in the first before Penn State opened the scoring with a two-out home run from Jennifer Tripken.
The Red Storm would record just one hit in the game, a double from freshman Allina Sainz (San Diego, Calif.) in the second inning.
In seven innings, Allman gave up seven hits, walked eight and struck out three.
St. John's continues play in the Seminole Classic tomorrow when they battle Syracuse University and the University of Maryland.
