No. 21 Boston College Overpowers Red Storm, 85-43

The Eagles, who opened the game with a 13-0 run, scored 32 points off 25 turnovers by St. John's. Boston College outrebounded the Red Storm, 40-35, and shot 48.4 percent for the game. SJU was just 13-52 from the field for a 25.0 shooting percentage.
Freshman Mary Pat Statler (New Cumberland, W.Va.) led St. John's (3-23, 0-15) with 11 points, including three three-pointers. Junior Amanda Rawson (Palos Park, Ill.) and freshman Patrycja Gulak (Olsztyn, Poland) each added 10 points. Rawson also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and recorded six of eight attempts from the free-throw line. Gulak had six rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Sophomore Shemika Stevens (New York, N.Y.) contributed four points, four rebounds, a team-high four assists, and two steals to the Red Storm effort.
For the Eagles, Amber Jacobs scored 26 points, connecting on six three-point field goals. Clare Droesch had 19 points and Jessalyn Deveney added 13 for Boston College (21-5, 12-3), who have won four in a row. Todays game marked the final home game for three Red Storm seniors: Rasheedah Brown (Newark, N.J.), Kenyawna Hudgens (Washington, D.C.), and Telisha Warner (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Hudgens, the only one of the three to play today, started her 26th straight game, recording two points and posting a strong defensive effort. Brown and Warner are both sitting out with injuries.
The Red Storm conclude the 2001-02 season on Tuesday, February 26 when they battle Syracuse University. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
