Red Storm Falls in Semifinals of Pirate Classic

Greenville, N.C. - The St. John's University softball team fell to Canisius, 5-0, in the semifinals of the ECU Pirate Classic on Sunday. The Red Storm defeated Canisius and ECU on Saturday for the right to play in the semifinals.

Canisius, leading 2-0, broke the game open in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs. The Griffs held the Red Storm to just two hits in the game.

On Saturday, the Red Storm defeated Canisius, 3-1,in eight innings. Four errors by the Canisius defense allowed the Red Storm to score three runs in the top of the eighth inning, while Canisius knocked in their only run with a RBI single in the bottom of the frame.

The Red Storm finished the tournament with a 3-2 record, and are now 3-9 on the season. They return to action this weekend at the Dixie Classic in Virginia Beach, Va.
