Red Storm Baseball Departs for Arizona on Thursday

The Red Storm (1-5) will play a pair of games on Friday, and a single game on Sunday. On Friday, St. Johns opens against UNLV (9-8), with first pitch coming at 11 a.m. (Mountain Time). St. Johns will return to the field later that after noon, playing perennial national power Oklahoma State (6-2) at 3 p.m. MT.
SJU wraps up its weekend visit, playing host Arizona State (12-5) on Saturday night at 7 p.m. (MT).
Junior Tom Klemm (Salem, N.H.), freshman Jim Wladyka (Rutherford, N.J.) and senior Charlie Bilezikjian (Staten Island, N.Y.) are slated to start for the team this weekend. The Red Storm starters have combined for a 1-2 record this season with a 2.56 earned run average.
St. Johns will be playing its first games since February 24 an 11-day layoff - when they dropped a 6-4 decision to Northern Iowa on the last game of its Southern road trip.
The offense been led by Bilezikjian and senior third baseman Jason Kane (Rutherford, N.J.). Bilezikjian leads the team with a .417 average, with three doubles, two home runs and five RBI. He also carries a 1-0 record as a starting pitcher. In two games, he has a 1.17 earned run average, and has allowed only two earned runs in 15.1 innings. Kane, meanwhile, is batting .417 with two doubles, one home run and three RBI.
Freshman second baseman Brett Hardie (Toms River, N.J.) has been a solid boost to the lineup, batting .364 with two doubles and one home run.
