St. John’s Baseball Heads to Tallahassee Regional in 2026 NCAA Tournament

The Red Storm will make its 39th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, ranking 11th all-time in college baseball history
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off its conference-leading 11th BIG EAST Tournament Championship, the St. John's baseball team will begin its Road to Omaha as the fourth-seed at the Tallahassee Regional, hosted by Florida State.
Monday's selection marks the 39th time in storied history of the program that Red Storm have been selected to the NCAA Tournament, a mark that's tied for the 11th most amongst Division I programs. The Johnnies have tallied at least one win in nine of their last 10 NCAA Regional appearances and have advanced to six College World Series.
The Johnnies will open the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 3 p.m., against the 10th national-seeded Seminoles on the ACC Network. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between St. John's and Florida State. The Red Storm last faced Florida State in a three-game series from March 4-6, 2016, in Tallahassee.
Entering the regional with a record of 33-24, the Red Storm is riding a five-game winning streak, highlighted by a perfect 3-0 showing at the BIG EAST Tournament in Mason, Ohio.
St. John's will be making its second NCAA Regional appearance in the last three seasons. Nine players from the 2024 squad will make their second trip to the Big Dance.
Head Coach Mike Hampton will make his 13th NCAA Tournament appearance since arriving in Queens as an assistant coach in 2001. It will be his second as the skipper, a role that he assumed prior to the 2020 season.
The Johnnies are now one of 11 schools at the Division I level to capture double-digit league championships in the same conference with their 5-3 win over fourth-seeded Creighton at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio on Sunday. Will Cowan, Jayder Raifstanger, Liam O'Leary, Shaun McMillan and Lewis Rodriguez were all recognized on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
Seven members of the Red Storm earned All-BIG EAST distinction at the end of the regular season, led by First Team selections O'Leary, Adam Agresti and Jon LeGrande. Hampton also led the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year for the second time in three seasons.
