All head coach Ian Stone did in his first season as varsity coach was win a BIG EAST Championship in women's soccer by shocking Boston College and Connecticut. The program got back to the BIG EAST Championships for the second-straight season in 2003, after a seven year absence. Women's soccer debuted in 1987. The history of the program is chronicled below:
