SJU's Meehan to Receive Award from Adelphi

The Woodruff Award is presented for excellence in coaching, teaching and educating young adults, while stressing that the athletics experience enhances the educational experience and quality of life.
As Associate Vice President of Athletics, Meehan is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all 22 intercollegiate programs. She is also responsible for serving as the Universitys representative of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) committee.
The 2002-03 season marks Kathy Meehans 27th year of service with the University. Meehan graduated from St. Johns in 1975 with a bachelor of science in education. She went on to earn a masters of science degree in counselor education from St. Johns in 1979. Upon graduation, she was hired as an assistant athletic director for womens athletics as well as an assistant basketball coach. During her tenure at St. Johns the womens program has grown from four sports to 11. She was involved in the development stages of the BIG EAST Conference, the EAIAW, the ECAC, and the NCAA.
