Softballs Argeras and Fitzgerald Honored by the BIG EAST

Argeras (Warren, Ohio) was named co-Player of the Week after going 7-for-12 in four league games. In the doubleheader against Pittsburgh, Argeras had a double in game one and another double and five RBI in game two, hitting .714 against the Panthers. Against Virginia Tech, Argeras was 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored.
Fitzgerald (Bellerose, N.Y.) receives BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season. Fitzgerald earned three league wins and one save, while working 20.0 innings, striking out 22 and walking just six. Against Pittsburgh, she pitched 11 innings of the doubleheader, allowing four runs and striking out 12. Fitzgerald earned another win and a save against Virginia Tech. She allowed the Hokies just three hits while striking out 10 batters. In BIG EAST games, Fitzgerald posted a 1.40 ERA.
The Red Storm return to action on Wednesday, April 9, hosting Columbia University at Red Storm Field. St. Johns travels to Notre Dame and Syracuse for BIG EAST contests this weekend.
