The ECAC Award of Valor is awarded annually to honor an Eastern College Athletic Conference student-athlete whose courage, motivation and relentless determination serves as an inspiration to all. The recipient of the award exemplifies strength of character, perseverance, and most importantly, accomplishment deserving recognition as being truly triumphant.
After an outstanding rookie season in 2001-02, Brown, played in just three games as a sophomore when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She took the remainder of the season off and trained physically and mentally for her return to basketball.
Brown returned as a junior and appeared in 26 games for the Red Storm, averaging just under 10 minutes per game. Since her return, she has served as a reminder to the St. John?s community to never give up.
She was honored by the University in 2002 with the John DaSilva Memorial Award, presented to a student-athlete who exhibits courage, persistence and fortitude as a valued member of St. John?s.
