Red Storm Goes Down To Miami

NEW YORK (AP) - Robert Hite scored 18 points and Guillermo Diaz added 15 for Miami in a 70-64 victory over St. John's on Wednesday night in the last BIG EAST regular-season meeting between the schools.
Darius Rice added 14 points for the Hurricanes (11-5, 1-1), who trail 13-16 in the all-time series with St. John's, including 11-14 in Big East games. Miami leaves for the Atlantic Coast Conference next season.
Elijah Ingram and Grady Reynolds each had 16 points for the Red Storm (4-9, 0-3), who lost their third straight and fell to 2-5 under interim coach Kevin Clark. Freshman Darryll Hill added 14 points.
Reynolds had all the points in a 6-2 run that gave St. John's its biggest lead of the first half, 27-21 with 4:37 left. Hite went 4-for-5 from the free throw line and had six points as the Hurricanes closed the half with a 13-6 run to take a 34-33 lead.
Carron Clarke's 3-pointer with 10:49 to play gave Miami a 53-47 lead. Ingram then had five points as the Red Storm went on a 9-1 run to go up 56-54 with 9:08 left. William Frisby scored all six of his points during a 12-3 run that gave Miami the lead for good and the Hurricanes were up 66-59 with 3:57 to go. St. John's got as close as 66-62 on a free throw by Ingram with 1:22 to play.
