St. John's Women's Golf Team Wins Rutgers Invitational

Piscataway, NJ - The St. John's women's golf team wins the Rutgers Invitational at the Rutgers Golf Club in Piscataway, NJ. This is the Red Storm's third team title in the programs third year of existence and the teams second team championship this season. St. John's finished strong shooting a tournament low final round 17-over par 305 to finish at 35-over par 612, 12 strokes ahead of the 16 team field.
Saint Francis University finished second, carding a two day total of 47-over par 624. Hartford University finished third at 76-over par 653, followed by Columbia University at 78-over par 655 and rounding out the top-five was BIG EAST rival Georgetown University at 80-over par 657.
Wining the individual championship was senior Jaclyn Sanders (Ontario, Canada) who fired a final round even par 72 to jump ahead of teammate Brittany Lambertson (Northport, NY). Sanders finished at four-over par 148, while Lambertson finished one stroke back at five-over par 149. Tarah Schloss from St. Francis finished third at six-over par 150. Kelly Cramp of McDaniel College carded a two round total seven -over par 151 to finish fourth. Round out the top five was junior Christin Thomson (Ontario, Canada) who fired two consecutive rounds of four-over par 76 to finish at eight-over par 152 for the tournament.
Junior Katie Lebel (Ontario, Canada) added to the team success shooting a final round six-over par 78 to finish tied for 17th at 17-over par 161. Senior Jennifer Rhee ( Rydal, PA) finished tied for 26th , carding a two round total of 20-over par 164. Junior Maggie Steciuk (Ontario, Canada) finished in 34th place at 25-over par 169.
The women's golf team will return to action, Saturday, October 23 when they participate in the Lady Bison Fall Classic at Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburgh, PA.
