Sophomore center Lisa Macchia (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded her first career double-double -- 22 points, 10 rebounds -- and freshman point guard Sarah Marshall scored a career-high 13 points to lead Boston College in a 87-68 BIG EAST victory over St. John's at Alumni Hall.
Macchia's 10 rebounds marks a career-high. She shot an impressive 9-for-11 from the field while Boston College shot a blistering 60.8 percent from the floor, establishing a new season-high. The Eagles have now shot 50 percent or better from the field 13 times this season.
With the win, Boston College improves to 19-6 overall and 9-5 in BIG EAST conference action. The Eagles have won the last 13 meetings between the two teams. St. John's falls to 9-16 overall and 3-11 in conference match-ups.
Macchia and Marshall led a quartet of Eagles scoring in double figures. Freshman center Kathrin Ress (Salorno, Italy) registered 14 points while junior Jessalyn Deveny (Westford, Mass.) chipped in with 12.
Marshall has now scored in double figures in three straight games.
