Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 at Army

West Point, N.Y. - The St. John's women's tennis team dropped their third-straight match this afternoon, losing 5-2 at Army. The Red Storm fall to 10-5 on the season and remain 4-3 in the BIG EAST.
Army pulled ahead early, as both the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles pairs defeated the Red Storm. At No. 1 Marissa Limsiaco and Megan Noble (Army) defeated Hande Gorur and Lauren Leo 9-8 (4) and Army took the point as Pam Chavez and Amanda Paluch (Army) won 8-3 over Jennifer Liantonio and Kristina Bothova in the No. 3 spot. The doubles team of Allison Davidson and Lauren Lorenzetti won 8-4 at the No. 2 spot for St. John's.
Hande Gorur hung on at the No. 1 singles spot for the first two sets, but Army added to their lead when Limsiaco took the match by winning the third set 6-0 (5-7, 6-4, 6-0). St. John's tied the match up as Bothova and Davidson won consecutively at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Bothova defeated Ali del Moral 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 to cut the lead to one and Davidson tied the match up by beating Noble 6-3, 6-2.
The Red Storm were unable to continue the run, as Army swept the final three matches, beating Leo, Lorenzetti and Liantonio in the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles spots, respectively.
St. John's will return to BIG EAST action on Thursday, April 15 at Connecticut.
